FCAC 2024 Juried Photography Show Rules
Photographer Eligibility
This is a juried photography show, open to original photographs by Fremont residents, students, employees of Fremont businesses, and members of the FCAC and Fremont Photographic Society.
Entries by minors under the age of 18:
Entries by minors under the age of 18 must have the approval of a parent or guardian. Submission of a photograph to this contest constitutes affirmation of approval by such parent or guardian. Violation of this rule will result in immediate disqualification.
Photographer/Copyright
Entries must be submitted by the original photographer. Do not submit a photo taken by someone other than you. You must be the sole owner of the copyright of any image submitted. Your submission of the photo and entry form is your guarantee that you are the author and copyright holder of the photo.
Number of Entries
An individual may submit up to 5 photographs. Each entry costs $6. You may only enter in one category. The categories this year are:
- Open Category (for any image submission that is not a Student Category submission), and
- Student Category (entries limited to any full-time student under the age of 25).
Photo Subject Restrictions
Photos must be appropriate for posting on a public website. Obscene, provocative, or otherwise questionable content will not be considered. The Fremont Cultural Arts Council retains sole discretion as to what constitutes inappropriate content.
Ownership/Use Rights
Photographers retain the copyright to their photographs. By entering the contest, photographers agree to have their submitted photographs (including non-winning entries) displayed on The Fremont Cultural Arts Council website without any fee or other form of compensation, may be used in promoting the Fremont Cultural Arts Council Annual Photography Show, displayed in the Fremont Cultural Arts Council Annual Photography Show, and may retain copies of the photograph for archival purposes. Photos may be credited to the photographer named in the entry form. Entries will never be used by The Fremont Cultural Arts Council in any manner for sale. In the event that ownership of any photograph submitted to The Fremont Cultural Arts Council is contested in any manner, The Fremont Cultural Arts Council retains the discretion to disqualify that photograph and discontinue use of the photograph.

Submitting Digital Images
Submissions for the 2024 show are now closed. Images must be submitted in JPG high-quality format. Images submitted that are smaller than 1600×1600 pixels may be rejected. Maximum image size is 5 MB. Image Modifications
Significant digital image enhancements and modifications are permitted, so long as all important elements appearing in the image are photographic in origin. No watermarks, signatures, or copyright notices may be added to images.
Judging
Entries will be judged on the basis of creativity, photographic quality, and effectiveness in conveying beauty or a concept. A panel of judges selected by the Fremont Cultural Arts Council will judge the entries and all contest decisions are final. Entries that fail to comply with the Official Contest Rules will be disqualified.
Accepted Images
Judges will select the digital images that will be included in the show. A list of the photographs selected for inclusion in the exhibit will be posted on the FCAC website and emailed to entrants.
Print images for Images accepted into the Show
All accepted images must be printed, framed, and submitted prior to the print submission deadline, and in accordance with the print requirements below.
- All prints must be at least 5″ x 7″ (with frames no smaller than 8″ x 10″) and must not be larger than 16″ x 20″ (with frames no larger than 20″ x 24″).
- Prints must be framed, under glass or acrylic, and ready for hanging with wire on back (no saw tooth hangers); eye screws must not protrude beyond the frame back. To reduce weight, frames larger than 16″ x 20″ should be covered with acrylic, not glass.

Winners
Our panel of judges will select winning photos in the Open and Student categories from among the printed photos. In addition to the awards selected by the judges, the visitors at the opening night reception will vote to select the winner of the “People’s Choice Award.” Winning photographs, along with the photographer’s name and information about the photo may be displayed on The Fremont Cultural Arts Council website.
Additional Terms and Conditions
The Fremont Cultural Arts Council is not responsible for computer system, hardware, software, or program malfunctions or other errors, failures, or delayed computer transactions or network connections that are human or technical in nature. Furthermore, the Fremont Cultural Arts Council is not responsible for: (i) lost, misdirected, misplaced, illegible, unintelligible, incomplete, or late entries or (ii) any act, failure to act, or delay regarding the transmitting or processing of entries. The Fremont Cultural Arts Council reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel or suspend all or any portion of this contest without notice if factors beyond The Fremont Cultural Arts Council’s control, including technical difficulties, disrupt or corrupt the fair or secure administration or operation of the contest. The Fremont Cultural Arts Council is entitled to interpret these rules as needed and its decisions are final. The Fremont Cultural Arts Council reserves the right to disqualify any entrant that The Fremont Cultural Arts Council has reason to believe is not the original work of entrant, or does not otherwise meet the contest rules. If a winner is disqualified or determined to be ineligible, an alternate winner will be selected using the same judging process/criteria described above. Alternate winners are subject to all requirements set forth in these Official Rules.
By participating in the contest, you agree to release and hold harmless The Fremont Cultural Arts Council and its employees, officers, affiliates, agents, contest sponsors and advertising and promotional agencies from any and all damages, injuries, claims, causes of actions, or losses of any kind resulting from your participation in this contest, including infringement of intellectual property rights. The Fremont Cultural Arts Council and its employees, officers, affiliates, agents, contest sponsors and advertising and promotional agencies assume no responsibility or liability for any damages, injuries, claims, causes of actions, or losses of any kind arising in whole or in part from this contest.
